To The Veterans Of Every Country

Today's World...
Remember this coming Sunday , November 11, is Veteran's Day as celebrated in the United States of America.
I would like to think of it as a "World-wide" Veterans' day for all warrior/soldiers who have fought for just causes such as democracy, the right to vote, the right to be an individual and to have individual rights as a human being. "The good guys."
Many of these warrior/soldiers have given their lives for these causes; many have been wounded, maimed and injured with life-changing, profound injuries; and some got lucky and got out scratch-free.
Don't know the gentleman above, but purported to be a U.S. Veteran, probably...nice looking dog too.
Here is a photograph of a man in a wheelchair, again purported to be a Veteran; note he is the only one standing for the colors.
An unhappy ending to a warrior's life:
HERE'S A PIECE BY MRS. CODY J. RUSSELL sent to me via DON IN UKIAH with a few modifications I felt appropriate, with Mrs. Russell's leave, I hope:
It is the VETERAN who has given us freedom of religion, the freedom of the press, the freedom of speech, the freedom to assemble, the right to a fair trial, and the right to vote; it is the veteran/warrior/soldier who has shaped the free world.
ON A SAD NOTE: CNN reported that over one quarter of the U.S. homeless are Veterans. Something's terribly wrong here.
----------------------------- -----------------------------
DUM LAWYER JOKE (Is that a redundancy?)
At the beginning of a trial the prosecutor, representing "the people" in a criminal case
trying a one-cattle cow rustler called his first witness for the People and asked: "Ms. Jones, do you know me?"
She responded: "Yes, I know you Mr. Williams. I've known you since you were in kindergarten; I know you to be dishonest in business matters and in familial matters; you are a manipulator and a backstaber. You actually believe that you are a big shot, and you like to push people around when you don't have any more brains than that chair your sitting in. Yes, sir, I know you."
The stunned prosecutor stammered "No...No more questions.
Whereupon, the defendant's attorney, feeling pretty good at this point, asked Ms. Jones the same question: Ms. Jones, do you know me?
Ms. Jones answered: " Yes I know you Mr. Thomspon. I have known you since kindergarten. I know you are lazy, you are a bigot, and you have a serious drinking problem; I know you cheated on your wife with 3 different women, one being Mr. Williams' wife. Yes I know you
The defense attorney almost died.
The judge asked both lawyers to approach the bench and in a very quiet voice said: "If either of you asks her if she knows me, I'll send you both to the electric chair."
Thanks Maryann of Oakland

Subject: Car For Sale....
The following is purportedly an advertisement in an Irish newspaper: "Automobile for Sale; 1985 Blue Volkswagen; only 50 miles, only first gear and reverse ever used; never driven hard; Brakes, tires, fuel and oil all original. Need to sell because of employment layoff."
Thanks to Craig of Fallon for this item.

Hi there Theresa,
I wish to inform you that in fact; the eleventh month, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh hour, is well known outside of America, and has been celebrated since 1919.
As your post seems to indicate you are unaware of that fact, I have taken the liberty to quote from the 'Wikipedia" entry on the subject of Remembrance Day.
Remembrance Day (Australia, Canada, United Kingdom), also known as Poppy Day (Malta and South Africa) and Armistice Day (France, New Zealand, and many other Commonwealth countries; and the original name of the day internationally) is a day to commemorate the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and civilians in times of war, specifically since the First World War. It is observed on 11 November to recall the end of World War I on that date in 1918. The observance is specifically dedicated to members of the armed forces who were killed during war, and was created by King George V on 7 November 1919 (possibly upon the suggestion of Edward George Honey to Wellesley Tudor Pole, who established two ceremonial periods of remembrance based on events in 1917).
United States
Veterans Day is commemorated in the United States on 11 November, but the function of the observance elsewhere is more closely matched by Memorial Day in May. In the United States, and some other allied nations, 11 November was formerly known as Armistice Day; in the United States it was given its new name after the end of World War II.
So, your wish has already been granted! The entire world has been celebrating this day for eighty eight years!!
And may it forever remind all those of war-like hearts, to ponder before pouncing!
cheers...and Happy Remembrance Day!!
